hi there! happy fourth of july! today is a super fun day over on scs because there are *tons* of cas holiday challenges all day long! this is my card for the first challenge, a sketch based on a card by our challenge hostess jen. i used some paper from a muse, and an adorable bee from paper smooches. the sentiment is an old retired one from a muse, and i also used black pearls, a square punch, and a retired square notecard from a muse. be sure to head over to scs for all of the fun challenges! i am actually hosting 2 of them, and i have made a few cards for the challenges, so i will be posting them on my blog as the challenges go up all day long.
here is a card i made for this week's one layer challenge on susan's blog. the challenge is to layer stamps, making for a clean and simple card that is easy to duplicate quickly. i needed to create a card set as a gift so this was a great challenge for me. this is inspired by a card i saw a couple years ago made by the fabulous lori barnett. i don't have a link to the card, but i remember that i absolutely loved it, and it had palm trees and a sunset. i think her sunset was blue, but i made mine pink. for the background, i used the retired big block stamp from a muse, and stamped it on a retired su cotton candy spectrum pad. then i used a palm tree from a retired kim hughes set from chf, and the sentiment is from pti. i have been getting *really* good at using what i have and i am *loving* it!!! look at all of those *retired* things i used, lol! retired = i've had it a looong time! ha!
this has been a super fun week, my birthday was thursday and i turned the big 3-5! i had one of the nicest and most fun birthdays i have ever had. my husband, me and the kids all went to coronado for the day, and spent the day playing in the sand and in the water. seriously, it was perfect! it makes me smile just thinking about it! :) the first picture is the view if the water from my beach chair! this next one is of 2 sand dollars my son found! they were alive! we actually ended up finding a bunch all day long, and we would pick them up, check them out and then put them back. it was really neat! anyway, just thought i'd share! :) i hope you are having a wonderful fourth and i will be back later today with more cas challenge cards! thanks for visiting! :)
Jennie, I'm so sorry I missed your birthday! I'm glad you had such a fabulous day. Your cards are cute and the beach pictures are just beautiful with the blue sky and the way the umbrella is in the picture. Makes me miss you and California so much!! Happy 4th of July, Jennie!
